Federal Subsistence Board work session rescheduled for February 22 – 23, 2018

The Federal Subsistence Board (Board) will hold a work session February 22 – 23, 2018, in the Denali Room on the fourth floor of the Federal Building at 222 W. 7th Avenue in Anchorage. The meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. on February 22 and at 8:30 a.m. on February 23. This work session was originally planned for January 2018, but was rescheduled due to the January 22, 2018 government shutdown.

Secretary of the Interior appoints members to Federal Subsistence Regional Advisory Councils

Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke has made the 2017 appointments to the 10 Federal Subsistence Regional Advisory Councils. The Councils advise the Federal Subsistence Board on subsistence management regulations and policies and serve as a forum for public involvement in Federal subsistence management in Alaska. 2017-2019 Federal Subsistence Fish and Shellfish Regulations now available

The April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2019 Federal subsistence fish and shellfish regulations book is now available online at https://www.doi.gov/subsistence/fisheries. The regulations book contains the Federal subsistence seasons, customary and traditional use determinations, harvest limits, permit requirements, and methods of taking fish and shellfish from Federal public waters in Alaska.

Federal Subsistence Harvest of Fish Regulations published in Federal Register

On January 23, 2018, the Federal Subsistence Board (Board) published the final rule for the Federal Subsistence Management Regulations for the Taking of Fish on Federal public lands and waters in Alaska in the Federal Register (83 FR 3079). This final rule establishes regulations for seasons, harvest limits, methods, and means related to taking of fish for subsistence uses in Alaska during the 2017–2018 and 2018–2019 regulatory years.  This rule also revises fish customary and traditional use determinations.
