Call for Proposals to Change Federal Subsistence Fishing and Shellfish Regulations

The Federal Subsistence Board (Board) is accepting proposals through May 21, 2024, to change Federal regulations for the subsistence harvest of fish and shellfish on Federal public lands and waters for the 2025-2027 regulatory years (April 1, 2025 – March 31, 2027). The Board will consider proposals to change Federal subsistence fish and shellfish seasons, harvest limits, methods and means related to subsistence uses. In addition, they will accept proposals for customary and traditional use determinations, as it relates to fish and shellfish.  

You may submit comments/proposals by one of the following methods:

Electronically: Go to the Federal eRulemaking Portal: https://www.regulations.gov. In the Search box, enter Docket number FWS-R7-SM-2023-0214. Then, click on the Search button. On the resulting page, in the Search panel on the left side of the screen, under the Document Type heading, check the Proposed Rule box to locate this document. You may submit a comment/proposal by clicking on “Comment.”

By hard copy: Submit by U.S. mail or hand delivery: Public Comments Processing, Attn: FWS-R7-SM-2023-0214; U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service; 5275 Leesburg Pike, MS: PRB (JAO/3W); Falls Church VA 22041–3803. All mail in proposals need to be postmarked by May 21, 2024.

The Federal Subsistence Regional Advisory Councils may submit proposals to their Council Coordinator.

All comments/proposals will be posted on https://www.regulations.gov. This generally means that we will post any personal information you provide us.
