Federal Subsistence Board holds work session, approves 2018 Fisheries Resource Monitoring Program plan and Delegation of Authority letters

The Federal Subsistence Board (Board) held a work session February 22 – 23, 2018, in Anchorage, and took action on three items: The 2018 Fisheries Resource Monitoring Program (FRMP) plan, Delegation of Authority letters for the Kuskokwim and Cook Inlet areas, and revisions to the Federal Subsistence Board Policy on Closures to Hunting, Trapping, and Fishing on Federal Public Lands in Alaska.

Correction: Dates of Federal subsistence eulachon fishery closure in Federal waters of District 1

KETCHIKAN, Alaska – Ketchikan-Misty Fjords District Ranger Susan A. Howle, under authority delegated by the Federal Subsistence Board, is closing the Federal public waters that flow into District 1 to the taking of eulachon from 12:01 a.m. on February 24, 2018, until 11:59 p.m. on April 24, 2018, due to anticipated low eulachon returns. Any eulachon caught in this area must be immediately returned to the water unharmed. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) also closed the State eulachon fisheries in District 1 on February 24.
