2020 Yukon River Salmon Summer Fishery Announcement #1

Subsistence and Personal Use Permits Available Online Districts Affected: Upper Yukon AreaTo prevent the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game is strongly encouraging Yukon Area fishermen to obtain subsistence and personal use permits online at www.adfg.alaska.gov/store, by mail application, or by phone. Permit holders that received a 2019 permit will receive a 2020 permit application in the mail starting this week. Subsistence and personal use fishermen are required to have a printed household permit prior to fishing in portions of the upper Yukon River drainage, the Tanana River drainage, and a portion of the Koyukuk River (see figures below). To obtain a permit or ask questions, contact the Fish and Game office in Fairbanks at (907) 459-7274.

Reminder: April 20 is the deadline to submit proposals to change Federal subsistence fish and shellfish regulations

The Federal Subsistence Board (Board) is accepting proposals through April 20, 2020 to change Federal regulations for the subsistence harvest of fish and shellfish on Federal public lands and waters for the 2021-2023 regulatory years (April 1, 2021 – March 31, 2023). The Board will consider proposals to change Federal subsistence fish and shellfish seasons, harvest limits, methods, and means related to taking of fish for subsistence uses, as well as customary and traditional use determinations.

Federal Subsistence Board to hold teleconference to consider proposals to change Federal subsistence hunting and trapping regulations

PUBLIC NOTICE - The Federal Subsistence Board (Board) will meet via teleconference only, April 20-23, 2020, to consider proposed changes to Federal subsistence hunting and trapping regulations for the 2020-2022 regulatory years, and to discuss other subsistence related topics. The regulatory proposals may be viewed at www.doi.gov/subsistence/proposal/current.
