A public hearing is scheduled for March 16, 2020, from 6:00–8:00 p.m., at the Yupiit Piciryarait Cultural Center at 420 Chief Eddie Hoffman Highway in Bethel to receive testimony on temporary special action requests received by the Federal Subsistence Board (Board).

Federal subsistence fishery for Eulachon closed in Federal waters within District 1

KETCHIKAN, Alaska – Ketchikan Misty Fjords District Ranger Susan A. Howle, under authority delegated by the Federal Subsistence Board, is closing the Federal public waters that flow into District 1 to the taking of Eulachon from 12:01 a.m. on March 1, 2020, until 11:59 p.m. on April 29, 2020, due to anticipated low Eulachon returns.

Call for proposals to change Federal subsistence fish and shellfish regulations

The Federal Subsistence Board (Board) is accepting proposals through April 20, 2020 to change Federal regulations for the subsistence harvest of fish and shellfish on Federal public lands and waters for the2021-2023 regulatory years (April 1, 2021 – March 31, 2023). The Board will consider proposals to change Federal subsistence fish and shellfish seasons, harvest limits, methods, and means related to taking of fish for subsistence uses, as well as customary and traditional use determinations.
