In a March 30, 2021 teleconference, the Federal Subsistence Board (Board) approved Emergency Wildlife Special Action Request WSA21-02.

The Federal Subsistence Board (Board) will hold a teleconference on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. or until business is complete, to take action on Emergency Wildlife Special Action Request WSA21-02.

Subsistence Drawing Hunt Application Period Open for Units 7 & 15

The Seward District Ranger of the Chugach National Forest and the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Manager, under authority of the Federal Subsistence Board announce the open application period for Federal Subsistence Drawing Hunts on Federal Lands on the Kenai Peninsula in Units 7 and 15. You must be a Federally qualified resident from the authorized community established for each hunt to apply. The application deadline is Friday April 2, 2021 at 4:30 pm. No applications will be accepted after that time. Drawings for each hunt will be conducted and winners will be contacted beginning April 7, 2021.

Southeast Alaska Subsistence Regional Advisory Council to meet by teleconference

The Southeast Alaska Subsistence Regional Advisory Council will meet March 16-18, 2021 by teleconference. The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. daily.

Federal subsistence fishery for Eulachon closed in Federal public waters within District 1, except for Unuk River.

KETCHIKAN, Alaska – Ketchikan Misty Fjords District Ranger Shane Walker, under authority delegated by the Federal Subsistence Board, is closing the Federal public waters that flow into District 1, except the Unuk River drainage, to the taking of Eulachon from 12:01 a.m. on March 1, 2021, until 11:59 p.m. on April 29, 2021. 

Seward Peninsula Subsistence Regional Advisory Council to meet by teleconference

The Seward Peninsula Subsistence Regional Advisory Council will meet March 11-12, 2021 by teleconference. The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. daily.

Call for Proposals to Change Federal Subsistence Hunting and Trapping Regulations

The Federal Subsistence Board (Board) is accepting proposals through May 24, 2021 to change Federal regulations for the subsistence harvest of wildlife on Federal public lands for the July 1, 2022–June 30, 2024 regulatory years. The Board will consider proposals to change Federal subsistence hunting and trapping seasons, harvest limits, methods of harvest, and customary and traditional use determinations.
