Assistant Secretary Domenech has cancelled plans to attend the Pacific Risk Management ‘Ohana (PRiMO) 2020 Conference hosted by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Retired Navy Rear Admiral Tim Gallaudet, Ph.D., Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and Deputy NOAA Administrator, and U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Director James Reilly will still attend.

Interior Announces Pacific Executive Leadership Development Program for Public Sector Officials from the U.S. Territories and Freely Associated States

The U.S. Department of the Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2020 - 2021 cohort of the Pacific Executive Leadership Development Program (ELDP) for candidates from the U.S. territories of American Samoa, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and from the freely associated states of the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau.

President Trump Proposes $619 Million for the U.S. Territories and the Freely Associated States in the FY 2021 Budget

President Trump today proposed $619 million for the Office of Insular Affairs fiscal year 2021 budget for the benefit of fellow Americans in the U.S. territories of American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The proposal also includes funding for U.S. allies in the Pacific who have a Compact of Free Association with the United States – the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau.

Bureau of Reclamation Water Treatment Engineers to Assist Palau Public Utilities Corporation

A team of water treatment engineers from the Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) will be in the Republic of Palau for two weeks beginning February 7, 2020, to assist the Palau Public Utilities Corporation. Supported by funding from the Office of Insular Affairs, their work will include assessing the conditions at sixteen water treatment facilities throughout Palau.
