Great American Outdoors Act: Enhancing Utah Public Lands (www.blm.gov)
The Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA) is a historic investment in the protection and sustainment of public lands and Bureau of Indian Education-funded schools. This landmark legislation provides economic support to communities by providing jobs and investing in much-needed maintenance for critical facilities and infrastructure on public lands. Through the Great American Outdoors Act funding, more than eight projects are happening across Bureau of Land Management sites in Utah.
Colonial NHP receives funding from Great American Outdoors Act for $122.8 million rehabilitation of Colonial Parkway
Colonial National Historical Park announces the award of $122.8 million for the Colonial Parkway Rehabilitation project, funded through the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA) in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The project will repair and extend the life of approximately 10.3 miles of the Colonial Parkway, including all associated structures and components in the affected sections.
Glacier Bay Concessions Housing to be Upgraded with Approximately $16.7 Million from the Great American Outdoors Act
Funded by the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA), Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve recently awarded an approximately $16.7 million construction contract to replace concession housing at Bartlett Cove. The project will demolish three existing outdated dorms and replace them with one building that will lower operation and maintenance costs and provide a safe, accessible, and energy efficient living space for the concession staff who provide essential services for park visitors.
San Antonio Missions National Historical Park receives $290,000 to repair 275-Year-Old Spanish Aqueduct
The National Park Service (NPS) is performing preservation, maintenance, and repair work on sections of the historic Espada Aqueduct, the oldest Spanish aqueduct in the United States, located in San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. The $290,000 project to repair leaks and remove sediment and debris is funded by the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA) and expected to be completed in March.
Colonial National Historical Park receives funding from Great American Outdoors Act for York River shoreline stabilization
Colonial National Historical Park announces a $11.2 million York River shoreline stabilization project in the park funded through the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA). The work will repair and stabilize approximately three miles of York River shoreline that have severe erosion. The erosion and shoreline loss threaten significant archeological sites in the park and the stability and alignment of the Colonial Parkway.
Acadia National Park awards approximately $33 million contract for new maintenance facilities
The National Park Service awarded an approximately $33 million contract for demolition of outdated structures and construction of new maintenance facilities at Acadia National Park headquarters. Funded by the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA), the project will provide park staff with enhanced facilities to better serve visitors and protect park resources.
BLM Issues Decision for Calf Creek Recreation Site
The Bureau of Land Management has issued a decision record for the Calf Creek Recreation Site Deferred Maintenance and Improvements Project within Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument in southern Utah. The decision record authorizes much-needed maintenance and site improvements, funded in part by Great American Outdoors Act investments, designed to meet public demand and increased visitation at the Calf Creek Recreation Area, while protecting Monument objects and values.
Great American Outdoors Act will fund improvements to Acadia National Park water systems
The National Park Service has awarded a $7.8 million contract to rehabilitate the water and wastewater distribution systems in Acadia National Park’s Schoodic District. Funded by the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA), the project will improve critical utility systems, which were installed in the 1970s.
