Laura Brown

Administrative Judge

Laura Brown began serving as an Administrative Judge for the Interior Board of Land Appeals in 2020. Before coming to the Board, Judge Brown worked in the Department of the Interior Solicitor’s Office for nearly 29 years. For most of that time, she provided legal counsel to the Bureau of Land Management and the Bureau of Reclamation and held several leadership positions including Deputy Associate Solicitor of the Division of General Law, Associate Solicitor for the Division of Land Resources, Associate Solicitor for the Division of Land and Water Resources, and Assistant Solicitor for the Branch of Public Lands. Judge Brown spent three years with the Tosco Corporation and eight years with the American Petroleum Institute before joining the Interior Department. She received her J.D. and LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University and her B.A. from Mills College in Oakland, California.
