James K. Jackson

Administrative Judge

Before joining the Board in 2006, Judge Jackson spearheaded two of the largest enforcement initiatives ever undertaken by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (petroleum refineries and coal-fired power plants). Prior to his return to public service, he was Mobil Corporation’s Senior Counsel for Environment & Health, a managing attorney with the American Petroleum Institute, and a senior litigation associate with the Washington, DC office of Reed Smith. Judge Jackson received his J.D. from the University of Michigan, a graduate degree from George Washington University Law School, and a B.A. in economics from Michigan State University. He clerked for the Honorable Philip Pratt, U.S. District Court Judge in Detroit, and is a retired Judge Advocate with 28 years of commissioned service on active duty and in the U.S. Army Reserves.
