Jason Hill

Chief Administrative Judge

The Secretary appointed Jason Alan Hill as Chief Administrative Judge in April 2020. Prior to joining the Board, Judge Hill served the Department as Deputy Solicitor for Energy and Mineral Resources, and before that served as Senior Counselor to the Director for the Bureau of Land Management. Before Interior, Judge Hill served as a trial attorney for the Natural Resources Section in the Department of Justice’s Environment and Natural Resources Division for a decade. Prior to government service, he spent 7 years in private practice in Texas. He earned an LL.M. in Environmental and Natural Resources Law from Lewis & Clark Law School, and his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center. He also holds a master’s and a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University, both in Environmental Studies.
