The Trump Administration continues to fulfill its commitments to Western states and tribes by investing significant funding to help prevent, contain and control invasive mussels that, if left unchecked, can damage water and power supplies, diminish recreational boating and fishing opportunities and devastate the economic and ecological health of Western waters.

U.S. Secretary of the Interior David L. Bernhardt signed Secretary’s Order 3387 at the Iowa Gold Star Museum in October, announcing that Gold Star Families and U.S. military veterans will be granted free access to national parks, national wildlife refuges and other federal lands managed by the Department of the Interior starting on Veterans Day (Nov. 11) this year and every day onward. 

After years of advocacy by community members and with strong Congressional support, President Trump authorized the establishment of Ste. Genevieve National Historical Park in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, when he signed the Energy and Natural Resources Act of 2017. 

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service based its final determination solely on the best scientific and commercial data available, a thorough analysis of threats and how they have been alleviated and the ongoing commitment and proven track record of states and tribes to continue managing for healthy wolf populations once delisted.

While at Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge, U.S. Secretary of the Interior David L. Bernhardt signed a Secretary’s Order that waives entrance fees to national parks, wildlife refuges and other public lands and waters managed by the Department of the Interior for 5th grade students and their families from now until Aug. 31, 2021.

In 1962, after years of planning, President Kennedy visited Pueblo and announced that the United States Government was moving ahead with the “most important step” to develop and conserve Western water resources by authorizing the Fryingpan-Arkansas Project. Nearly 60 years later, the Trump Administration, along with its partners, is fulfilling this unkept promise and constructing this project.
