They were joined by federal, state, local and Tribal leaders.

As part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda to rebuild our nation’s infrastructure and make communities more resilient to the climate crisis, the Department of the Interior today announced $20 million for four small surface and groundwater storage projects in California and Utah. 

Today, Deputy Secretary Beaudreau, Senior Advisor to the President and White House Infrastructure Implementation Coordinator Landrieu, and Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Touton announced a nearly $585 million investment from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for infrastructure repairs on water delivery systems throughout the West.

The Department of the Interior’s Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy, Management and Budget and Office of the Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs announced today that they will hold nation-to-nation consultations with Tribes and listening sessions with Indian artists and craftspeople on draft amendments to regulations that implement the Indian Arts and Crafts Act. 

In a major milestone towards meeting the Biden-Harris administration’s goal to deploy 30 gigawatts of offshore wind energy by 2030, the Department of the Interior today announced that the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) has completed its review of critical design and installation reports for the South Fork Wind project, clearing the way for the start of turbine construction offshore Rhode Island and New York. This will be the first commercial-scale, offshore wind energy project to start turbine construction in federal waters in the United States.

Today in Alaska, as part of the Department’s Investing in America tour, Deputy Secretary of the Interior Tommy Beaudreau announced that the Department will invest more than $16 million over the next four years from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to enhance the resilience of ecosystems and salmon in Alaska’s Yukon, Kuskokwim and Norton Sound region through co-stewardship with Alaska Native Tribes.

Today, Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland traveled to Houston to highlight investments being made through President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to put people to work to plug, reclaim and remediate orphaned oil and gas wells.
