The Obama Administration created the HLED forum in 2013 to elevate and strengthen the U.S. and Mexico commercial and economic relationship in the interest of advancing mutual economic growth, job creation, and competitiveness.

Since President Obama reestablished the IGIA in 2010 under Executive Order 13537, the White House has been an active co-chair with Interior in leading the federal executive branch to address policies for the U.S. territories of American Samoa, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands. 

The report proposes to stop the spread of invasive species through early detection and rapid response (EDRR) actions—a coordinated set of actions to find and eradicate potential invasive species before they spread and cause harm.

Presented on Presidents Day and during the National Park Service’s Centennial year, the donation is intended to help people better understand the significance of the nation’s 16th president, and preserve his ideals and values.

The new monuments, located in San Bernardino and Riverside counties about one hour from the Los Angeles metropolitan area and one hour from the Las Vegas metropolitan area, protect approximately 1.8 million acres of spectacular landscapes, fragile wildlife habitat, unique historic resources, and important cultural sites.

Visitors to the National Park Service “channel” will be able to view more than 3,800 works of art, artifacts and records, as well as a Centennial Virtual Exhibit, which features a significant museum object from over 350 national park sites.

The Department’s budget request supports meeting Federal trust and treaty responsibilities to Native Americans, conserves important landscapes across the nation, invests in the next century of the National Park Service, and allows for responsibly managing energy development on public lands and offshore areas.

Today, the States of Oregon and California, PacifiCorp and the federal government – through the U.S. Departments of the Interior and Commerce – announced an agreement-in-principle to move forward with amending the Klamath Hydroelectric Settlement Agreement.

President Obama signed an Executive Order  to institute seismic provisions for federal buildings, reflecting scientists’ current understanding of where strong shaking is likely to occur and do damage. The purpose of the Order is to reduce post-earthquake losses to affected communities and ensure federal assets are available to help with recoveries.
