2020 Yukon River Salmon Summer Fishery Announcement #25 District 1 Commercial and Subsistence Fishing Schedule

Districts Affected: Lower Yukon Area

The Chinook salmon run is projected to be over 90% complete in District 1. Commercial fishing will open with 6-inch or smaller mesh gillnets to target summer chum salmon. Chinook salmon may not be sold. Incidentally caught Chinook salmon may be retained for subsistence use and must be recorded on a fish ticket.

The processor will not be buying in District 2 for the remainder of summer season. For information about district transfers contact the Anchorage ADF&G office at (907) 267-2385. Upon notifying the department of intent to transfer districts, there is a 72-hour waiting period.

Commercial fishing District 1:

Commercial fishing with 6-inch or smaller mesh gillnets will be open for three 6-hour periods from:

8 p.m. Saturday, July 4 to 2 a.m. Sunday, July 5

8 p.m. Sunday, July 5 to 2 a.m. Monday, July 6

8 p.m. Monday, July 6 to 2 a.m. Tuesday, July 7

Chinook salmon retained for subsistence must be recorded on a fish ticket.

Fishermen must confirm they have a buyer and should check tender locations prior to fishing. Crewmembers must have a current crewmember license. The phone number to reach CFEC is: 907-789-6150. CFEC permits can be renewed online at: www.cfec.state.ak.us/Leon/#leon

Subsistence Fishing

District 1 and the North Coastal Area (from 62 degrees North latitude north to Point Romanof, including the Black River, and communities of Emmonak, Nunam Iqua, Alakanuk, and Kotlik):

Subsistence fishing is open with 6-inch or smaller mesh gillnets on a schedule of two 18-hour periods per week from: 2 p.m. Fridays to 8 a.m. Saturdays and 2 p.m. Tuesdays to 8 a.m. Wednesdays
