2017 Yukon River Summer Salmon Fishery News Release # 34 District 2 Commercial Fishing Schedule

Districts Affected: Lower Yukon Area

This news release announces an additional gillnet commercial period for District 2 to target summer chum salmon. Subsistence fishing is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week except closed 2 hours before, during, and 2 hours after commercial periods.

Fishermen should stand by for announcements regarding Fall season subsistence and commercial fishing schedules.

District 2:

Commercial fishing with 6-inch or smaller mesh gillnets will be open for one additional 6-hour summer season period:

  • 6 p.m. to 12 midnight Tuesday, July 18

Any Chinook salmon caught during commercial gillnet openings may be kept for subsistence use and must be recorded on a fish ticket as “kept but not sold”.
