Tommy Beaudreau Sworn In as Interior Department Deputy Secretary

WASHINGTON — Tommy Beaudreau was sworn in as Deputy Secretary for the Department of the Interior by Secretary Deb Haaland this afternoon.

“The Department of the Interior is focused on creating good-paying American jobs in the clean energy industry, tackling the climate crisis, protecting our public lands and waters, and honoring our Nation-to-Nation relationship with Indian Country. I look forward to working with Tommy on the many demands of our agency and in partnership with our dedicated career employees,” said Secretary Haaland.

“I am honored to be back at the Department of the Interior as Deputy Secretary at this critical time for our country,” said Deputy Secretary Tommy Beaudreau. “The Interior Department plays a key role in President Biden’s economic, environmental, and racial justice agenda, and I am thrilled to join Secretary Haaland’s team to deliver for the American people.”

Tommy returns to Interior after serving for nearly seven years at the Department during the Obama-Biden administration, including as the first director of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Acting Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management, and Chief of Staff to Secretary Sally Jewell.

Tommy has more than a decade of experience in energy development, environmental conservation, and Tribal consultation. He was born in Colorado, raised in Alaska, and currently resides in Washington, DC with his wife and two children.
