Office of Employee Development

The OED's mission is to transform individuals, teams, and organizations through high quality, innovative, and cost-efficient learning. OED strategically delivers impactful and engaging training, effectively using the latest technology to build the competency of the DOI and federal workforce. 

OED consists of four divisions that work together to meet all of your training needs:

    The Department of the Interior University (DOIU) is the Department-wide training and development organization that delivers various types of learning opportunities to improve individual and organizational development through two divisions: Learning Delivery and Professional Development (LDPD) and the Leadership Engagement and Development Division (LEAD).
  • DOI Talent

    DOI Talent is a talent management system (TMS) that offers integrated learning and performance management to DOI. It modernizes the approach to learning and performance management. This agency-wide TMS catalogues learning and registration enrollment as well as allows DOI employees to align their learning to mission and goals. Contact DOI Talent at AskDOITalent@ios.doi.gov.
  • Federal Consulting Group

    The Federal Consulting Group (FCG) specializes in employee and organizational development, change, as well as strategy execution. FCG brings clarity to complexity by helping federal executives focus on the purpose and strategic direction of their agency’s core mission. FCG works with federal agencies to improve performance and the services they deliver to or on behalf of the American people.
  • National Indian Programs Training Center

    Located on the grounds of the old Albuquerque Indian School, the National Indian Programs Training Center offers a unique opportunity for learning. State of the art classrooms, distance learning offerings, and a highly experienced staff are only a few of the reasons the NIPTC is the provider of choice for training related to Indian programs.
  • Mandatory Training

    Department of the Interior employees are subject to regulatory and mandatory training requirements. These requirements will change for individuals based on their job duties or position assignment.
  • DOI Career Connection

    DOI Career Connection is an online portal for sharing short-term broadening projects, details & lateral opportunities across DOI. DCC facilitates opportunities to broaden employees’ experience, address staffing needs, & build a highly-skilled workforce throughout the Department of the Interior. In conjunction with My DOI Career, DCC helps employees take charge of defining their path to a fulfilling & exciting career with DOI.
  • Interior Coaching Program (ICP)

    The Interior Coaching Program provides coaching to managers, supervisors, and employees to improve their performance, optimize their strengths, and enhance their capacity to fulfill the mission of DOI’s bureaus and offices.
