Climate change poses a significant threat to the Department of Interior’s mission, the Nation,  people, and ecosystems around the globe. The Office of Policy Analysis plays a significant role contributing to Department-wide efforts to tackle the climate crisis, particularly supporting intra- and inter-agency climate policy analysis and coordination. Key administration, Departmental actions and associated reports including:

Executive Order 13990: Protecting Public Health and the Environment and Restoring Science to Tackle the Climate Crisis

Executive Order (EO) 13990 highlights the need to use science to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, bolster resilience to the impacts of climate change, and prioritize environmental justice.  

Executive Order 14008: Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad

EO 14008 calls for quick action to build resilience against the impacts of climate change, bolster adaptation, and increase resilience across all operations, programs, assets, and mission responsibilities with a focus on the most pressing climate vulnerabilities. Secretary’s Order 3399: Department-Wide Approach to the Climate Crisis and Restoring Transparency and Integrity to the Decision-Making Process

SO 3399 establishes a Departmental Climate Task Force to emphasize the use of best available science to evaluate greenhouse gas emissions and associated climate change impacts of Federal land uses.
