Temporary Special Action Request WSA18-03, submitted by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), requests the closure of the antlerless moose season on Federal lands in Unit 22D remainder to take effect December 1, 2018, through the end of the regulatory year.

BLM is concerned about allowing the harvest of cow moose in Unit 22D remainder in relation to the overall population trend since 2011. Moose population surveys completed by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) in March 2014 show estimated moose numbers declined by 14% annually between 2011 and 2014. ADF&G closed antlerless moose harvest beginning in 2015 over concerns about the population and potential negative impacts of a cow harvest.

The public is welcome and encouraged to attend this hearing in person or by calling the telephone number provided below. When prompted, enter the passcode. Comments will be forwarded to the Board for consideration on this temporary special action request.
