Subject: DOI Event – 2011 National Historically Black College and Universities Week Conference


The White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities will hold its 2011 National HBCU Week Conference Sept. 19-20, 2011, at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, 2660 Woodley Road N.W., Washington, DC 20008. The theme for this year's conference is “HBCUs: Engaging the World Anew.” Congress is expected to pass a resolution honoring the significant contributions which HBCUs have made to the nation. Further information about the HBCU Week Conference is available at http://www.ed.gov/whhbcu.


The Department of the Interior, Office of Civil Rights, along with the bureaus/offices will exhibit at the HBCU Conference. The exhibit, titled, "People, Places, and Partnerships," will provide information on various partnerships between DOI and HBCUs, HBCU student engagement, and DOI employees who are HBCU graduates.
