Safeguarding the West from Invasive Species: Actions to Strengthen Federal, State, and Tribal Coordination to Address Invasive Mussels

On June 26, 2017, Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke and Montana Governor Steve Bullock, chair of the Western Governors' Association, released a package of more than three dozen actions and initiatives designed to protect areas in the West from the economic and ecological threats posed by invasive quagga and zebra mussels. The package was developed by a team of federal, state, and tribal representatives, and coordinated by the Office of Policy Analysis and National Invasive Species Council (NISC) Secretariat.  Full Report  Press Release

 

DOI Economics Workshop, April 5 - 7, 2017

Econ Workshop Panel

PPA organized this workshop for Interior economists. The workshop was an opportunity for the Interior economics community to convene on current issues of interest, collaborate across bureaus, identify key economics research challenges that are important to DOI’s programs and activities, and build community. The conference was held in the South Interior Building auditorium in Washington, D.C.

 

Secretary Zinke Meets with PPA

On Monday, April 3rd, Secretary Zinke met with the staff of the Office of Policy Analysis (PPA) to introduce himself and learn more about the roles and functions of the office. During his visit, the Secretary presented his priorities and expectations for the Department, and listened to brief presentations on the role of PPA. It was an honor to welcome the Secretary here in the Office of Policy Analysis, and we look forward to working with agency leadership to advance these important issues.
