Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area in Nevada

Red Rock Canyon was designated as Nevada's first National Conservation Area. Located 17 miles west of the Las Vegas Strip, the area is visited by more than two million people each year. In marked contrast to a city geared to entertainment and gaming, Red Rock offers enticements of a different nature including miles of hiking trails, rock climbing, horseback riding, mountain biking or just enjoying the gorgeous views. The grey limestone of the La Madre Peaks contrasts beautifully with the red sandstone in the Rainbow Mountains.
