The U.S. Geological Survey’s (USGS) Topographic Data Chief, Vicki Lukas introduced the 3D Elevation Program (3DEP) whose goal is to provide the first-ever national baseline of consistent high-resolution elevation data, revealing both 3D point clouds along with bare earth. Datasets for 3DEP Lidar, National Hydrography, information on a new generation and its future integration of the 3DEP show an operational approach, including 3D model applications for the Insular Areas.

  • The National Map:  is a suite of products and services that provide access to base geospatial information to describe the landscape of the United States and its territories.  As one of the cornerstones of the USGS’s National Geospatial Program, the National Map is a collaborative effort among the USGS and other Federal, State, and local partners to improve and deliver topographic information for the Nation. Search the National Map for base geospatial information describing the landscape of the United States and its territories.
  • The National Hydrography website:  The USGS National Geospatial Program manages the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD), Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD), and NHDPlus High Resolution (NHDPlus HR). These geospatial datasets represent the surface water of the United States and its territories for mapping and modeling applications. Access national hydrography products, including the territories here.
