Temporary Special Action Request WSA22-01, submitted by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the National Park Service (NPS), requests changes to the eight Federal muskox hunts in Units 22 and 23.  This request would specifically:

  • Change the Federal muskox permit system from a registration hunt to a drawing hunt.
  • Standardize the language in the Delegation of Authority Letters for all eight muskox hunts in Units 22 and 23 to read: Close the season and determine annual quotas, the number of permits to be issued, and the method of permit allocation between State and Federal permits.
  • Change the in-season manager for the southwest portion of the Unit 23 muskox hunt from the Western Arctic National Parklands Superintendent to the BLM Anchorage Field Office Manager.

The public is encouraged to participate in this hearing by calling the telephone number below. When prompted, enter the passcode. Comments will be forwarded to the Board for consideration.
