Fishermen intending to commercial fish in the Set Net Only Area portion of District 1 (see attached map) must register prior to the first fall season commercial fishing period. Under new regulations adopted at the 2018 Statewide Alaska Board of Fisheries Meeting in March, the Set Net Only Area now includes coastal waters within 3 nautical miles seaward from any grassland bank in District 1 (see map). Registration can be completed by calling the Emmonak Fish and Game office at 949-1320. There is a 72-hour waiting period to transfer into and out of the Set Net Only Area once you have commercially fished in the Set Net Only Area or in the remainder of District 1. The waiting period begins once you have notified the department of your intentions to transfer. For those individuals who are intending to fish in the remainder of District 1, no special registration is required and those fishermen will be registered to the district where their first delivery is made.
