On Thursday, June 12, 2008, Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne will deliver the keynote address at the commencement ceremony at San Gorgonio High School in San Bernardino, Calif. Secretary Kempthorne is a graduate of San Gorgonio High School, where he served as student body president.
Following his graduation from San Gorgonio High School, Kempthorne graduated from the University of Idaho. He later was elected to serve as the Mayor of the City of Boise, Idaho, U.S. Senator from Idaho and Governor of Idaho. He was sworn in as Secretary of the Interior in May 2006 following his nomination to the cabinet position by President Bush.
