Secretary Kempthorne to Host Water Meeting with Governors of Alabama, Florida and Georgia

WASHINGTON – Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne, on Thursday, November 1, will host a meeting among Alabama Governor Bob Riley, Florida Governor Charlie Crist and Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue. During the meeting, Secretary Kempthorne -- joined by White House Council on Environmental Quality Chair Jim Connaughton, and Commander of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Lt. Gen. Robert L. Van Antwerp -- will convene a discussion among the governors on water issues associated with a drought affecting the southeastern United States.

At the beginning of the 11:00 a.m. meeting, cameras will be escorted inside for a 2-minute photo/video spray. At 2:15 p.m., following the meeting there will be a news conference.
