WASHINGTON — Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne and other senior federal officials will attend a cooperative conservation “listening session” in San Bernardino, Calif., on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006. (The event formerly was scheduled in Colton). The session will take place at 10 a.m., preceded by a media availability at 9:15 a.m..
The “listening session” is one in a series of public meetings across the country to solicit and exchange ideas on incentives, partnership programs, and regulations that can improve results and promote cooperative conservation and environmental partnerships. In addition to Interior and EPA, the Agriculture Department, the Commerce Department and the White House Council on Environmental Quality are sponsoring the sessions.
