MMS Director Johnnie Burton, BLM Director Kathleen Clarke Honored as Key Women in Energy

Minerals Management Service Director Johnnie Burton and Bureau of Land Management Director Kathleen Clarke have been honored as two of the top women in the energy field in the Key Women in Energy-Americas awards competition.

"Johnnie and Kathleen are true leaders in the energy sector, and I am proud that they are being appropriately recognized once again for their contributions," said Secretary Norton. "Under Johnnie's expert leadership, the Minerals Management Service is securing ocean energy and economic value for America while protecting our environment for future generations. Meanwhile, Kathleen continues to provide the strong leadership needed to manage the many uses of our public lands, including energy development."

Winners of the 100 Key Women in Energy-Americas awards are selected for contributions to the entire energy "value chain" - from upstream oil and gas exploration to downstream power transmission to information technology and overarching environmental issues.
The awards recognize the achievements and contributions of individual women across the energy sector and are given in the following categories: Pathfinders/Trailblazers, Leadership, Wisdom, Innovation/Creativity, Visionary and Potential.
