Wednesday was a special day for Andy Yuen, refuge manager at the San Diego National Wildlife Refuge Complex. The San Diego County Board of Supervisors honored him for his outstanding service, leadership and commitment to the residents of San Diego County and proclaimed May 20, 2014, as Andy Yuen Day in San Diego County.

The supervisors lauded Yuen's recent national recognition as the 2014 Paul Kroegel Refuge Manager of the Year by the National Wildlife Refuge Association.
“We know in San Diego County that we have the best of the best running the Refuge,” said Supervisor Greg Cox, who presented the proclamation to Yuen before the Board at its May 20 meeting.
Yuen thanked the supervisors for their continued support and collaboration with the refuge on several projects that benefit wildlife and people in the county, including the 300-acre coastal wetland restoration project and the Bayshore Bikeway trail project.
