The Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site in Georgia opens a new exhibit on Dec. 10 to mark the 50th anniversary of Dr. King's receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. Photo* by NPS.

On Dec. 10, Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site commemorated the 50th anniversary of Dr. King's receiving the 1964 Nobel Peace Prize with the opening of an exhibit titled "A Global Citizen."

The exhibit displays for the first time in the United States all the documents relating to Dr. King's award nomination. The National Park Service produced the exhibit in partnership with the Norwegian Nobel Peace Center, Oslo, Norway.

*Participating in the ribbon cutting, as pictured in the photo at right, are (from left): Judy Forte, superintendent of Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site; Naomi Barber King, wife of Dr. King's brother, A.D. King; Yolanda Renee King, daughter of Martin Luther King III; Martin Luther King III; Dr. Raphael Warnock, pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church; and Stan Austin, regional director for the Southeast Region, NPS.

Also present for the ceremony, but not pictured, was Jessica Angstreich, Nobel Peace Center curator, who came from Oslo, Norway, to participate in the event.
