Earth Day 2015 -- It's Our Turn to Lead

To: All DOI Employees in the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Area

From: Joe Nassar, Director, Office of Facilities and Administrative Services (OFAS)

Subject: 2015 Earth Day and Personal Home Computer and Electronic Disposal Day

You are cordially invited to participate in the celebration of Earth Day 2015 on April 22 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in Rawlins Park. Rawlins Park is located at the intersection of 18th and E Streets, N.W., Washington, D.C. The rain date for the event is April 23, 2015. Interior is participating in these festivities with colleagues from GSA and OPM, so this is a great opportunity to meet, discuss and collaborate with representatives from other agencies. Additionally, executive leadership from DOI, GSA and OPM will be available from 12 p.m. – 12:15 p.m. for a photo-op. Employees, friends and family are welcome to enjoy the DOI/GSA/OPM Earth Day event, which will include music, refreshments, and souvenirs made from recycled materials.

The 2015 Earth Day Celebration will also host a Personal Computer and Electronic Equipment Disposal Event. This event will provide DOI, OPM and GSA employees in the Washington, D.C., Metro area with an environmentally sound avenue for disposing of unserviceable electronics. Special recycling bins for eyeglasses, alkaline and non-alkaline batteries, and inkjet cartridges will be available as well.

OFAS will have a truck parked on the E Street side of the Main Interior Building for you to drop off your unusable/unwanted personal (home) computers and other types of electronic equipment. You are asked to please erase or remove all hard drives. The OFAS Property Office will dispose of the equipment by having it dismantled and any serviceable components recycled in an effort to preserve the environment.

For more information please contact Michael Crowley at (202) 208-3225 or Jay Agosto at (202) 208-2222.
