This release revises the policy, procedures and guidelines regarding cooperation with State and local governments in the evaluation, review, and coordination of Federal assistance programs and projects.  On Friday, June 24, 1983, the Department published in the Federal Register (48 FR 29224), regulations implementing Executive Order 12372, "Intergovernmental Review of Federal Programs."  Executive Order 12372 and the regulations at 43 CFR Part 9 are intended to replace the intergovernmental consultation system developed under OMB Circular A-95.  Chapter 5 describes requirements under the Executive Order for interstate situations.
