Q: What is assistive technology?
A: Any item, piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially off-the-shelf, modified, or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of employees (Source – RESNA Assistive Technology Resource Book, 1990 modified).

Q: Does the ACCESS Center purchase accommodation solutions for DOI employees?
A: Accommodations are generally purchased by the employee's office of bureau. Please refer to Personnel Bulletin 14-01 Reasonable Accommodations for Individuals with Disabilities (February 20, 2014).

Q: Where can I learn more about different types of accommodations?
A: The Department of Defense Computer/Electronic Accommodations Program (DoD CAP) shares a wealth of information, videos and training that is available via their website at www.cap.mil.
